NORWALK TOASTMASTERS

Welcome to
NORWALK TOASTMASTERS
Fall 2008

Meeting 2nd & 4th Mondays
8:00 p.m.
at
NORWALK CITY HALL
125 East Avenue
Norwalk, CT
Please be our guest any time!

What are meetings like?
At Norwalk Toastmasters, there are usually 20 to 25 people in attendance, and we are known for being an exceptionally friendly, supportive club. The room is set up theater-style, with a lectern at the front. The evening follows an agenda, is hosted by a volunteer Toastmaster, and involves 12 to 14 other members in voluntary speaking roles, including prepared speeches. One segment, called Table Topics, gives everyone, including guests, a chance to speak extemporaneously for 1 to 2 minutes.
Who becomes a member?
People join for many reasons, but mainly, they want to become confident communicators, and develop as public speakers. To join Toastmasters, there is a one-time initiation fee of $20. Membership dues are $36 for 6 months.

When you become a member, you receive the basic Toastmaster manual for the first 10 speeches. You set your own goals for completing the speeches, and the club supports your progress. After completing the first manual, you are a CTM - Competent Toastmaster, and enter the next level of manual speeches. After completing the next level, you receive the ATM award - Accomplished Toastmaster.

Thereafter, there are many excellent program manuals to choose from -- the Storyteller's series, the Entertaining Speaker, the Leadership Series. Your goals can be as comprehensive and challenging as you want them to be.

You are cordially invited to be our guest at any meeting. Hope to see you there!
